Subject: THE FAMOUS WOLF OF WALLSTREET WATCH
Not for sale, but still my biggest catch as I blew up the picture of Leonardo DiCaprio in the movie: "The Wolf of Wallstreet", and noticed he was wearing, of course as a TAG Heuer Carrera Ambassador at that time, a Heuer or TAG Heuer 1000 984.013, the gold plated version (NOT a Rolex!).
After I dumped my story at the TAGHeuer Forum runned by the famous David Chambers from Australia, the news was quickly going around, and when I made this 3 picture collage on Instagram it was like: BOOM!!
I never knew the potentional of such an update on any social media,it was all in the beginning of the influencers, Instagram was even not owned by META (Facebook) at that time.
Prices tripled overnight,and there were not many around on eBay or other marketplaces, may be not too hot of a watch in the 1980's. Today is another story, I see them at crazy prices, and I see copycats with the wrong number on the caseback and fully gold plated bracelets, which is not the case with the original, only the front, not the back.
I currently own 3 of them,and will pass them probably to my nephews.
